West Colfax is a thriving ecosystem supported by a unique partnership between three dedicated community organizations. Together, the 40 West Arts District, the West Colfax Community Association (WCCA), and the Lakewood-West Colfax Business Improvement District (BID) work hand-in-hand to foster creativity, support local businesses, and advocate for the residents of this historic neighborhood.

Lakewood-West Colfax Business Improvement District (BID)

Who They Are: An intergovernmental organization focused on the long-term economic vitality and physical revitalization of the West Colfax business corridor.

What They Do: The BID leads the “big picture” strategy for the area, focusing on business retention, recruitment, and digital discoverability. They also manage the Vision 2040 Action Plan to guide the corridor’s future growth.

40 West Arts Creative District

Who They Are: A state-certified creative district and 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to energizing the West Colfax corridor through the power of art.

What They Do: 40 West Arts serves as the cultural heart of the neighborhood, managing galleries, artist studios, and major community events such as the Colfax Art Crawl and First Fridays. Their programs focus on “placemaking”—visually transforming the district with murals and public art—while providing professional growth opportunities for artists and free creative programming for the public.

West Colfax Community Association (WCCA)

Who They Are: A coalition of residents, business owners, and community leaders who serve as the grassroots voice for the corridor.

What They Do: WCCA is all about connection and advocacy. Their monthly community meetings are the central hub of neighborhood engagement, providing a forum for curated news and updates. They manage essential local resources and provide beautification and micro-grants to help small businesses and residents improve their pocket of the community.
